P.E.P. is an award winning after school program. We are a non-profit organization running a variety of sports and enrichment classes.

Thank you for your interest in this year's after school activities. We are excited to offer activities on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The P.E.P. program consists of enrichment classes and sports, both competitive and intramural at Hale Charter Academy. There are
three 10 week sessions throughout the school year.

Classes and Sports

Classes and practices are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:15 until 4:30pm. *On Tuesdays, some classes will meet from 1:45pm – 3:00pm.

Girls JV & Varsity Volleyball Tryouts*

Be a part of the FIRST ever HALE Girls Volleyball team! *Tryout dates: 9/9 and 9/11 (must attend both days).

Girls JV & Varsity Volleyball Teams*
Mondays & Wednesdays

Be a part of the FIRST ever HALE Girls Volleyball team! If you have any experience or are athletic and determined, tryout for this team! A JV and Varsity team will be selected to play against other teams in the Delphic League. Please attend tryouts before registering for the team. Transportation to away games is not provided. Games and matches are located throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. The VB season may extend beyond 11/8/19. *Tryout dates: 9/9 and 9/11 (must attend both days).

Cross Country

Come be a part of the START of the Hale running tradition. We are building a competitive XC team! If you enjoy running long distances or if you just want to improve your mile time, join other students as they train to set Hale’s long distance records! Compete against other schools in the Delphic League! It’s a great way to make new friends and get in shape!

Get ready to hoop it up! Get together with other boys and girls and play basketball in a fun setting! Everyone that signs up will be placed on a team that will play against other teams from Hale in an after school league. Sign up now and improve your chances of making Hale’s Varsity or JV teams next year.

Hale Soccer Academy (HSA)

Come show off your skills at the first ever Hale Soccer Academy. Learn the techniques of the game from the best club team coaches in the area! This is a prelude to the winter competitive girls and boys soccer season – come show off your skills to your future coaches! This is an intramural pre-season training opportunity. Improve your chances of representing Hale on the Varsity or JV soccer teams in the Winter season.

Girls Volleyball (IM)

Participants will learn and master the bump, set, and serve as they play against other girls from Hale in a fun, intramural setting.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, this is a great way to have fun and stay active.

Intro to Lacrosse

Get ready to experience one of the area’s hottest and most popular sports!  This class is designed for beginning LAX players. Students will be shown basic passing, shooting, and catching techniques.  Local expert coaches will share their knowledge of the game to all that are interested. Sign up and get ready to have fun. This is a great way to improve your skills and chances to make Hale’s Varsity LAX team.  Please note that students are responsible to provide a helmet and mouthpiece. These items are REQUIRED in order for students to participate. P.E.P. has loner lacrosse sticks available.

World Art & Techniques*
Tuesdays & Thursdays

It’s time to get creative!  Sign up and start spending your afternoons working with different artistic mediums including pencils, paint, pastels, and clay.  You can do all of this while being inspired by artists from around the world. We will be learning about the elements and principles of art while focusing on a dynamic new project each week. *includes $15 supplies fee

Intro to Animal Care*
Agriculture Center

“Agriculture Therapy” – Come and spend time waling, brushing, exercising the goats, learn to feed the animals, handle the hens, collect eggs, and much more!  Hand feed the tortoise, prepare him for the evening, and plant and grow edible organic food from seed. If you love animals, this class is for you! *includes materials fee

Stitching & Embroidery*
Mondays & Wednesdays

Come learn to knit!  It is fun and relaxing and easier than you think.  We’ll learn a few patterns and make a few easy projects that you can keep for yourselves or give as gifts.  It is a skill with real history and will last you a lifetime. Can’t wait to see you there! *includes materials fee

Ten 80 Model Race Cars*
Mondays & Wednesdays

The Ten80 club allows for students to own a sports team and their ultimate goal is to engineer performance.  This includes a personal performance and of course, race performance. The base technology for Student Racing Challenge teams is a 1:10 scale electric radio-controlled (RC) car that can be setup in over 4 million ways before re-engineering a single part.  Students will be involved in car mechanics, car design, website design, poster presentation, and compete as a race team. *includes materials fee

Wednesdays & Thursdays

This course offers hand-on opportunities to build and program robots.  Working in small teams, students will design robotics systems to compete in fun real-world activities.  Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team’s robot will have to morph to better adapt to the world!  This class is perfect for students with big imaginations and who like to build things. Students will also learn basic coding concepts in AI design. *includes materials fee

Intro to Animation*
Mondays & Wednesdays

This course is an introduction to traditional animation, including design, storyboarding, stop-motion, and character animation, providing students with the fundamental skills to produce traditional animation and the knowledge of the principles of animation. Students will explore concepts, characters and storyboards for basic animation production with an emphasis on creating movement and expression using traditional or electronically generated image sequences. *includes materials fee

Enrollment is on a first come- first serve basis. Register your child early to guarantee a space.

Costs include a $25 non-refundable registration fee.  All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
Student Eligibility Requirements:
1) Good citizenship and behavior are expected at all times, especially when dealing with coaches, instructors and volunteers. Poor citizenship/sportsmanship displayed by student and/or parent/guardian will result in immediate student suspension/removal from the P.E.P. program without refund.
2) Students must maintain satisfactory academic marks (min. 2.0 gpa) to participate in any competitive programs.
3) PEP has the right to remove students at any time due to safety concerns or behavior issues.
4) Student must be registered online before student can participate. No exceptions!!!
5) Participants must show up to practices and classes regularly and on time.
6) All Financial Aid requests must be submitted prior to the first day of the session.
7) All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
8) Outdoor activities will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.There are no make up days
for missed classes/activities.
9) A non-refundable $25 enrollment fee is included in all registration fees.
